The campaign train of 2023 All Progressives Congress(APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday moved to Abakaliki the Ebonyi state capital.
The ruling party candidate during the campaign commissioned some projects of the state governor Engr. David Umahi held a stakeholder meeting with the elders of the state.
Addressing the party supporters in Abakaliki, Mr. Tinubu, said his government will dialogue with all agitators if elected the next President of the country.
He said the violence can’t solve problems but dialogue.
He also said Education reform will be a priority for his government and that education is the greatest weapon against poverty.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also promised to provide a railway from Calabar to the southeast of the country.
“We recognize the fact that education is the greatest weapon against poverty. We are going to get our children educated, and the best, and reform our schools. We want peace, we will come to all agitators, this thing is not done by conflict, it is by sitting around the table to complain.
“David Umahi said there is no dual carriage road from here to Enugu. He is not using war or fight to do it, he is using sense to do it and that is what is necessary.
“We need railway from Calabar Port to South East, railway. It is not a war that should be used to achieve it, it is by discussion, it is by being intellectually involved, it is by electing visionary leaders to lead the crusade for development, progress, and prosperity. You have it in me, Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, he stated.
Governor David Umahi in his remarks said Ebonyi has benefited largely from the federal government and has decided to be in APC.
He explained that the state will support only Tinubu in the 2023 presidential race.
“It is not about a person, it is about the interest of the people. Our people have benefited from the central government and so, we are obedient to APC, we are obedient to Jagaban, we are obedient to Tinubu, we are obident to Shettima, we are obedient to only the APC.
“We are not part of ethnic chauvinism and tribal partnership, nobody can drag us to religious or tribal sentiments. We are for the progressive of Nigeria built on equity, justice, and fair play. These are the principles that governs APC. Tinubu has done it before in Lagos, the man wey- Sabi. This man belongs to our constituency, the constituency of professionals, the constituency of infrastructure, the constituency of raising people.
“South East belongs to APC, do not make any mistake about that. There is no other party in Ebonyi State than APC. We have declared operation paste your posters on the infrastructure you built. We are very proud of what APC has done here”, the governor stated.
Earlier in a stakeholder meeting at the new government house, the Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers Council and the state Chairman of Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRH Charles Mkpuma said the traditional rulers will give Tinubu maximum support to enable him to succeed in 2023.
He advised the presidential hopeful to zone the Senate President position to the state if he wins.
“We are not surprised at your emergence as APC presidential candidate is given your track record of achievements both as former Governor of Lagos State and outstanding leader.
“We, therefore welcome you and your entourage to Ebonyi State. Our people are happy that you made out time to come and interface with us.
“We have resolved to give our maximum support to your candidacy and other candidates of your party come the 2023 general election to enable you to succeed.
“Give our community, give Ebonyi State a special place in your government most especially to consider zoning of the Senate President to Ebonyi State”.
