The government of APC in Ebonyi state Friday announced that the State shall produce the national treasure and zonal Secretary of All Progressives Congress, APC.
Consequently, a consensus method has been adopted for the selection of who to represent the state as the national treasury.
Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Kelechi Igwe stated this on Friday during an enlarged state executive council meeting of the party at the international conference center, Abakaliki.
He said the mandate was given to Ebonyi ahead of the APC convention that is scheduled to hold on March 26, 2022.
He said,” I want to congratulate that Committee led by Buni, for being able to wither the storm and all the attacks that came both left right and center, today they are still intact and they are assuring us that they will be peaceful and will be coordinated to have the most peaceful convention next Saturday.
“So many from the meetings and resolutions reached the meeting they had, you know APC goes by consensus, they go by-election sometimes because we are members of one family there is no need for bickering, no need for friction to overwhelm us. That’s why the party says sometimes we go be consensus and agree on what and what should be done.
“In their wisdom,m the six geopolitical zones have been given the privilege to have the national cake of APC each zones have been allowed to have a national office that will represent the zone at the national level. Ebonyi State to the glory of God and by the don’t hard work perseverance of our governor, he has been able to strive and ensure that the right of the state at the national level is not allowed to be drowned.
To that extent, we have been asked to produce a national treasure. Also at the zonal level, we have been allowed to produce the Secretary.
Because of that,t the Working Committee of APC in Ebonyi State decided to summon this meeting and tell us what they did immediately they had the privilege information”.
The Chairman of the party in Ebonyi state, Stanley Okoro-Emegha said the party would adopt a consensus method in selecting people to occupy the positions zoned to them.
“In our constitution, we have provision for a consensus candidate, we also have the provision to go to the field if one feels like no we want to contest where we agree to have a consensus candidate were we disagree we all go to the field.
In the national leadership of the party it zone and then micro-zone the one that has been ceded to the southeast is what the leaders of the party agreed on and then do micro zoning and gave Ebonyi two positions which is the national treasure and zonal Secretary of the party.
“As such, we have some of our people that moved all out for the form, they purchased the form and as a family, we decided to agree on a consensus at such every member sat for the SEC meeting after long deliberations of the state working Committee we came down to NEC meeting and then it was agreed that we go on consensus”.
