
On Monday, Mr Sunday Nwankwo the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government area inaugurated a 9 man Committee for bursary disbursement to Students of Ikwo origin with Vice Chairman of the Council, Mrs. Chinasa Itumo as the Committee Chairman and Mr. Sunday Otah as Secretary.
Mr Nwankwo inaugurated the Bursary Committee in his office at Onuebonyi Echara, the headquarters of Ikwo Local Government Area.
Also inaugurated is a -5 Man Special Committee on Indigent Students with Comrade Celestine Nwigboji as Chairman and Chinwe Ulebe as Secretary.
Mr. Nwankwo, explained that the Bursary Committee will work out modalities for the payment of Bursary to Students of higher institutions, while the Committee on Indigent Students will use appropriate templates to identify Indigent Students for Academic Palliative.
This strategy is to ensure that no one is left behind.
The Chairman said the gesture was line with the People’s Charter of Needs of the State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the Legacy Mantra of his administration, insisting that fulfilling his electioneering promises top his agenda.
He promised that the Committee members would be given all the needed support to execute the task before them, just as he advised them to be objective and sincere in carrying out the exercise.
The Chairman further explained that as a government, there must be a total commitment to social intervention to help those who suffered set back in their academic pursuit due to some unavoidable circumstances.
The Chairman of the Bursary Committee, Mrs Chinasa Itumo and the Chairman, Committee on Indigent Students, Comrade Celestine Nwigboji expressed gratitude to the Council Chairman for the privilege given to them to serve in that capacity, assuring that all the members on the Committees would discharge their duties effectively.
