Grammy-winning Nigerian music star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his personal journey of religious exploration, revealing a past conversion from Christianity to Islam in his ongoing “search for truth” and enlightenment.
In a recent interview with streamer Playboymax, the artist stated that despite studying religious texts, he remains unfulfilled and increasingly confused.
“Growing up, I was a Christian and then I converted to Islam. It’s like I’ve studied it all, but I’m still out here trying to find out what is really going on, you know? The more I research, the more confused I get,” Burna Boy candidly explained.
He confirmed that his spiritual exploration and search for personal truth are continuing.
This revelation follows similar public discussions by other Nigerian artists regarding their spiritual paths. Notably, singer 9ice recently shared that he converted to the Ifa religion after a severe “spiritual attack” that incapacitated him for six months, a practice he stated he wished he had started earlier.
