Sunday Nwankwo, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council of Ebonyi state has called on the people to use the yuletide period to reflect on the virtues of Jesus Christ in charity, forgiveness, and sacrifice.
He said as Christians, the Christmas season would give people a chance to exchange goodwill with their neighbors, families, and others.
In his Christmas message, the council boss appealed to the Ebonyi people to imitate the life of Jesus and remember the underprivileged in society.
The Council Chairman explained that if the joy of Christmas must go round, at end of the celebrations, people should find happiness in how much they gave and not how much they spent on themselves.
“As a government, I have pursued the restoration of peace and unity in the Council, just as the public power supply is being restored across the Council Area to improve the welfare of the people.
” grading and lateriting work have commenced on some roads in the area to ensure the free flow of human and vehicular movement in this yuletide, a bill for the establishment of Ikwo Local Government Empowerment Scheme Agency recently passed into law by the Legislative Council would create an opportunity to lift thousands of Ikwo people out of poverty in the years ahead.
I welcome home all Ikwo sons and daughters who have traveled long distances from both within and outside Nigeria to celebrate with relatives and loved ones, I appeal to motorists to drive safely, and citizens should avoid all acts that are likely to cause a breach of the peace in the area.
Mr. Nwankwo used the medium to appeal to the good people of Ikwo to ensure that they collect their PVCs to be able to exercise their franchise, and their support for the present government by voting APC in the general election.
