Government of Ebonyi state Friday said land owners both developed or not developed shall henceforth pay its grand rent.
The government gave them 30 days from 1st July to pay the grand rent back dated from the year 2000 till date or risk to lose his or her certificate of occupancy (C of O)

Honourable Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, in the State during exco briefing said late payment shall attracted. 20% penalty.
“EXCO considered a memo seeking to as a matter of urgency embark on aggressive revenue collection of the ground rents from all land owners in the state who have not been complying with the law from the date of issuance of their C of O.
“Exco approved the same and directed that from the year 2000, all those who have not paid their ground rent must pay it within 30 days from 1st July 2022. Late payment shall attract 20% penalty while failure to pay shall result in the revocation of the C of O of the land and the same shall be gazetted and published”.
The commissioner further announced government shall train school teachers and principals of secondary schools in the state at the cost of 3,000,000.00
“e-award letter for the training of 1010 Head Teachers of Public Primary Schools and 443 Principals of Secondary Schools in Ebonyi State on the Skills to register pupils and students electronically at the cost of N 3,000,000.00.
