
Ikwo Local Government area of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has procured and distributed twenty brand new Toyota Corolla vehicles to the twenty ward Councilors of the area.
The Council Chairman Mr. Sunday Nwankwo presented the vehicles at the Council headquarters, Onuebonyi Echara.
The chairman also performed a foundation laying ceremony for the Construction of the Ikwo Legislative Complex and Traditional Rulers Secretariat at the headquarters of the Council, Onuebonyi Echara.
Correspondent reports that the event witnessed the presence of top government functionaries, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Executives, Youths, and Women Organisations.
At the foundation laying ceremony for the Construction of the Ikwo Legislative Complex, the Speaker, of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Moses Odunwa commended the Council Chairman for stepping down the programs and policies of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to the rural areas and urged beneficiaries of the vehicles to use them in the interest of the ruling party, APC.
Mr. Sunday Nwankwo the Chairman, of Ikwo Local Government Council, said the decision to procure and distribute the vehicles as well as embark on the construction of the buildings was to compliment the efforts of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in implementing his manifesto, ” People’s Charter of Needs” and therefore thanked the Governor for providing the platform with which the projects were initiated.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Uchenna Igwe who performed the foundation laying ceremony of the Traditional Rulers Secretariat said Ikwo Council Chairman noted that Ikwo was the first among the thirteen Council Areas in the State to initiate such projects and enjoined people of Ikwo to remain supportive of APC led government in the state.
In their separate remarks, Members representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Chinedu Ogah represented by Mr. Chinedu Nwali, the Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council, South East Zone, Eze Charles Mkpuma and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ifeanyi Ogbuewu not only lauded the Council Chairman, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo for his thoughtfulness in giving the Councilors a sense of belonging but also commended him for enhancing the aesthetic value of the Council headquarters at Onuebonyi Echara.
The Deputy Principal Secretary to the state Governor, Mr. Okeh Oreke, the Traditional Prime Minister of Amagu Erimogwudu Kingdom, Mr. Okeagu Ogadah, and the Traditional Ruler, Amagu Erimogwudu Kingdom, Eze Dominic Aloh said the gesture deserves emulation and charged the Councilors to make judicious use of the vehicles, adding that with the vehicles, they would discharge their duties efficiently.
Mr. Stephen Nwukwu the Leader of Ikwo Legislative Council, while speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the Council Chairman for the gesture and promised that they will use them for the service of the people.
