Ebonyi Observes 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi Sunday 15th January 2023 laid a wreath in the cenotaph of the unknown fallen soldiers as part of activities to mark the grand finale of 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Honourable Francis Nwifuru represented by the Leader of the House, Honourable Victor Chukwu, the Chief Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene, Commissioner of Police, Garba Aliyu, Cantonment Commander, Nkwagu Military Cantonment, Lt. Col Atomode, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Ebonyi State, Captain Fidelis Ogodo retired, the Chairman, Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council, Chief Charles Mkpuma, and a representative of the Legion Widows, Mrs. Ada Onum also lay a wreath at the cenotaph.

Governor Umahi also released a pigeon, as a symbol of Peace during the event which took place at Unity Square, Abakaliki.

A twenty-one-gun salute in honor of the fallen heroes was also released.

The Governor, however, signed a condolence register as a mark of respect to the gallant heroes.

Mrs. Ada Onum and other widows who observed the ceremony prayed for God’s mercy on the fall heroes.
