The Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State Police Command, CP Aliyu Garba, has directed area commanders,
Divisional Police Officers and all Tactical teams to ensure that all Police SPY Plate Numbers currently in use in the state whether authorized or otherwise are confiscated with immediate effect.
The CP said all authorizations are hereby revoked indefinitely.
A statement by the command PRO SP Chris Anyanwu urged the masses to ensure compliance to the directive.
The directive from CP Aliyu was in compliance with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba regarding the total ban on the use of Police Spy Vehicle Number Plates by citizens across the federation.
According to the statement the Commissioner of Police further directed that, Police officers and officers of other security agencies attached to VIPs who use SPY Plate Numbers in the state should ensure compliance with the IGP’s order or face arrest for disobedience to lawful order.
He appealed for continuous support and cooperation from all and sundry in this regard, and cautioned the enforcing Police officers against human rights violation, extortion and other unethical conducts, as Police Taskforce team has been constituted and mandated to go round the 13 LGAs to ensure total compliance.
