Ebonyi students drum support for Umahi’s government

Students from different institutions in Ebonyi state Friday call on political actors, not to stop Engr David Umahi from completing his tenure to avert uncompleted projects in the state.

Mr. Gideon Onwe, special assistant to Ebonyi state government on students affairs, said the governor has done great work for the people of the state and should be supported to complete all his ongoing projects that are located across the 13 LGAs of the state.

On his part, Comr. Nwuruku Olisa Alfred, Coordinator, NANS Zone B South-South South-East said the recent political development in the state was a calculated ploy to strangle the lives and fates of Students in the State.

He appealed to the political actors to allow peace rain for the interest of the students in the state.

“Like the event in question, findings unveiled a calculated ploy to strangle the lives and fates of our Students with the reins of Politics in the State, and worst at it, gruesomely lacking recourse to the present situation of our hapless Students, who just escaped the grasp of the anvil of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and the National ASUU Strike that has lasted for a month, and who are still struggling to cope with the rebranded school system, a good consideration of which would have lit a sense of goodwill in the eyes of these masterminds.

“Having studied what it is to lure our Students into the deluded haven of politics in the State, and having studied what it will be to stage the Students of Ebonyi State at the frontline of the imminent political tussle in the State/Nation, the Leadership of Ebonyi State Students’ Community wishes to state succinctly, as follows;

“That Students enjoy the coverage of a non-partisan body, as being neutral and bereft of sides concerning the Political quakes of any polity, and until a readable change is announced, this status quo remains undaunted.

“That Ebonyi State Students’ Community, like her sister Communities in the Country, borrows credence from the established reality above, as non-agent of politics, non-factor of partisanship, and a non-conformist with the precepts of any political group in the State, and in the Country.

” That the Leadership of Ebonyi State Students’ Community protests any ploy and strategy, mischievously calculated to rope our Students into the square of partisanship. Any plan drawn to turn our Students into card-carrying members of any Political Party in the State antagonizes the course we uphold. We are Simply “Students”, who are yet to get acquainted with the pros and cons of circular politics, and at present, we are primarily faced with the demands of our studies and relative operations, which are grossly incompatible with the current political tune of the State. The perceived plan is strange and unprecedented, and lacks reference to the history of Studentship in the Country; we, therefore, speak to remind everyone involved in this decried attempt of this copious distinction.

“As pressure groups, we shall continue to lend our support to any Administration manning the wheel of the State at all material times. We shall continue to play the role of a monitor, appraising the programs and policies of any Administration at the helm of affairs, to ensure its compliance with the necessities of Ebonyians, most importantly the Students’ Community of Ebonyi State.

“Again, we preach peace at the course of this imminent transition, and harmonious coexistence in the place of unnecessary violence which aftereffect shall make the State unbearable and inhabitable to her innocent Citizens. We also frown at any attempt to force our law-abiding Students into the cloaks of thuggery, and undue partisanship to all extents and heights, at present.

“We, therefore, ask every Student of Ebonyi State, to steer clear from this ill-styled snare, and remain law-abiding as we continue to sail through the letters of the time.
