Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission has formally declared Hon Stephen Ebere Nwogba (JP) of the All Progressive Congress, APC, as the winner of the chairmanship Election held in Abakaliki Local Government Area.
The EBSIEC Returning officer, Mr Onwe Ikechukwu Moses, who announced the result this morning at about 12:38 am Sunday, said the APC candidate scored 94,071 votes to emerge the winner.
I hereby declare that Stephen Ebere Nwogba” having satisfied the requirements of the law and is hereby declared the winner and he is returned Elected,” Mr Onwe said.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area and chairman-Elect, Hon Stephen Ebere Nwogba (JP), appreciated God Almighty for his grace and Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for making his emergency possible stating that he was overwhelmed by the total support and love displayed by his party, APC, Stakeholders and the good people of Abakaliki Local Government Area, I will never take it for granted.
The chairman Elect acknowledged and commended the Governor for Excellent leadership and for ensuring Ebonyi state local government allocations were not stopped as seen in other states of the federation.
“Our administration in the first term, which Will end in August, has embarked on many projects across the communities; there is always room for improvement as we consider peculiarity during budgeting and planning in line with people’s charter of need mantra.
“Our incoming administration will look into internal roads, agriculture, health, education and many more to mention.
He promised not to disappoint the Electorate that gave him their mandate in the political era. Encouraged the citizens to feel free to access his office as he is always accessible.
Speaking shortly after the declaration, the chairman campaign council, Snr Comr Ben Nwovu Agunechemba, who was visibly excited, applauded the state Governor, His Excellency Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for creating the enabling environment, for a credible electoral process and pledged the unshakable loyalty and support of stakeholders and people of Abakaliki LG.
On his part, the APC chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area, High Chief Paulinus Attam JP, expressed joy that the exercise was free, fair and transparent and thanked the people of the area for coming out to exercise their franchise.
