
Mr. Sunday Nwankwo the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, has inaugurated the Caretaker Committee of the National Association of Ikwo Students, NAIS, with Comrade Elom Desmond Unaekuma as the National President.
Other members of the Committee include; Comrade Nwafor Tochukwu- General Secretary, Comrade Amaga Chinonso- Financial Secretary, Comrade Nwankwo Justina Treasurer and Comrade Igwe Richard Izuchukwu- Publicity Secretary.
The Council Chairman performed the inauguration ceremony during a meeting with the student body at Onuebonyi Echara, the headquarters of Ikwo Local Government Area.
Mr. Nwankwo charged the Caretaker Committee to draw a blueprint that will strengthen the activities of the Students Union.
He assured that the Council would continue its partnership with the student body for accelerated development in education in Ikwo.
The Chairman explained that the inability of the student body to conduct an election devoid of rancor gave rise to the constitution of the Caretaker Committee, and noted that the Committee would oversee the affairs of the student body, pending the time the election is conducted.
In his acceptance speech, the Caretaker Committee President, National Association of Ikwo Students, NAIS, Comrade Desmond Unaekuma thanked the Chairman, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo, and his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him to lead the student body, assuring that the welfare of the Students will be top on his agenda.
Two of the students that
contested for NAIS presidency in the foiled election, Comrade Kingsley Agbe and Joshua Nwafor also thanked the Chairman for his fatherly role and declared their support to the newly constituted Caretaker Committee.
Meanwhile, the Bursary Payment Committee and Special Committee on Indigent Students will be inaugurated on Monday 25th September 2023 at the Council Headquarters.
While the Bursary Committee will be working out modalities for the payment of Bursary to Students, the Committee on Indigent Students will be using appropriate templates to identify Indigent Students for Academic Palliative.
