Ebonyi state government is to redesign Eguogboriga layout to enable it address land encroachment and disputes in undeveloped plots of land in the area.
The redesigning of the layout is to enable the government address land encroachment issues and other activities at the layout including undeveloped plot issues.
Dr Mathew Nwobashi the state Commissioner for Lands and Survey, disclosed this to journalists Wednesday in Abakaliki on the positive and progressive activities of the Ministry.
Dr. Nwaobashi noted that the government’s decision to redesign Eguogboriga layout in the state capital was part of recommendation of the 10- man committee set up in August, last year by the government to look into activities in the area.
According to the commissioner, the committee headed by Mr Benjamin Ezeoma in their findings observed that there were illegal structures at the layout.
Recall that Ebonyi State government had in 2023 directed revocation of undeveloped plots in government layouts including Camp David estate, Onwe road, Udensi quarters among other government quarters in the state as such places has become a treasure Iceland for hoodlums.
According to the lands commissioner, the committee headed by Hon. Benjamin Ezeoma at the end of their findings noted that there were illegal structures at the layout.
The government therefore directed removal of illegal structures defacing the layout, and encroached areas yet to be developed should be allocated to new people who are ready to develop the land with immediate effect.
” The committee recommended that the original Eguogboriga layout plan should be redesigned and plot numbers introduced to accommodate encroached green verged areas and the new allocations recommended above.
Adding, plot owners who are yet to develop their plot since past administration in the state by means of an executive order should be mandated to do so within a specific period of time.
The commissioner noted that the committee’s recommendation will address encroachment issues at the layout, generate revenue for the government and give room for rapid development of the foremost layout in the capital city.
He added that the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru will continue to do the right thing for the interest of Ebonyi people.
