Ex-Rep members, others defect to APC in Ebonyi

Hon. Livinus Makwe former two-term House of Representatives member, former two-term House of Assembly member, Oliver Osi, and a Deputy Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election in the state Aja Nwabueze Saturday resigned from their party.

They defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They defected with thousands of their supporters.

The defectors are all Loyalists of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim in the Ivo local government area of Ebonyi State.
Leaders and members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), National Rescue Movement(NRM), and other opposition parties in the local government also defected to APC.
The State Chairman of the party, Stanley Okoro Emegha, and the Chairman of Ivo local government, Emmanuel Ajah received the new party members in Ishiaka the council headquarters.
Stanley the party chairman said the party will continue to harvest new members for the party.
He assured them that they would be carried along in the scheme of things.

“Do not be afraid of competition, it’s only competition that can bring out your best. Nobody has come to dislodge anybody in the party.
“I am happy that leaders of opposition parties in Ivo have joined APC. With these people, no more opposition in Ivo”, he stated.
Stanley warned that anyone who wants to join APC should do the needful by registering at the ward level and obtaining the party membership card.
On his part, Emmanuel Ajah the council chairman said the defectors decided to join the party because of the peace and unity in the party and the performance of Governor Francis Nwifuru.
“The defectors are coming into APC because of the good work of His Excellency the Governor.
“Government is a big institution and APC is large enough to accommodate everyone. We are one big family, we are united. We will give you your dues in the party, we will carry you along in everything we do”,
Speaking on behalf of PDP defectors Makwe said they were coming into the APC to add value to the party through their wealth of experience.
He said that they left the PDP because the party jettisoned the zoning formula during the 2023 general election.
On their part, Deputy Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Ajah Nwabueze, and Chairman of NRM in the local government, Orji Joseph said they were attracted to the APC because of Governor Nwifuru’s style of leadership which they believed has united the state.
