Fidelity Bank Plc’s exceptional leadership in the export sector has once again been recognized, with the bank clinching the prestigious title of Export Finance Bank of the Year at the 2023 BusinessDay and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.
The esteemed award was bestowed upon the bank during a grand gala held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the opulent Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a statement from BusinessDay Media Limited, the organizers of the BAFI Awards, it was noted, “The BAFI Awards is the hallmark of excellence for institutions within the Nigerian financial services sector. Now in its 10th year, the award acknowledges and celebrates organizations that demonstrate outstanding performance in delivering financial services in Nigeria.”
Expressing her gratitude for the recognition, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, the MD/CEO of Fidelity Bank Plc, remarked, “We are thankful for this acknowledgment and dedicate the award to our customers who rely on us to provide the right support for operating effectively in the global non-oil exports market space. As a bank, we remain committed to our goal of helping individuals grow, inspiring businesses to thrive, and empowering economies to prosper.”
It is worth noting that the bank recently hosted the second edition of its non-oil exports expo, titled the Fidelity International Trade and Creative Connect (FITCC) in Houston, Texas, United States of America.
During the two-day event, the bank sealed a substantial cocoa pre-export deal with AFREXIM Bank and JohnVents Industries, valued at 40 million dollars. This significant development has garnered acclaim from experts in the export sector.
FITCC Houston also featured exhibitions by over 160 businesses based in Nigeria and the United States, along with panel discussions where stakeholders strategized on augmenting the number of Nigerian businesses exporting to the U.S. market.
In acknowledgement of the bank’s unwavering dedication to advancing bilateral trade and economic development between Nigeria and the USA through the FITCC initiative, the Mayor of the City of Houston, Sylvester Turner, proclaimed October 25, 2023, as FITCC Day in Houston, Texas.
Fidelity Bank, ranked among the top banks in Nigeria, stands as a full-service customer-oriented commercial bank, serving over 8 million customers through its extensive network of 251 business offices in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, as well as via digital banking channels.
The bank has amassed numerous accolades both locally and internationally, including the distinction of Best Payment Solution Provider Nigeria 2023 and Best SME Bank Nigeria 2022 from the Global Banking and Finance Awards; recognition as Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria by the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023; and the honor of Best Domestic Private Bank in Nigeria from the Euromoney Global Private Banking Awards 2023.
