Foundation trains about 100 farmers in Ebonyi to benefit from NIRSAL loan

About 100 farmers drawn from the 13 council areas of Ebonyi state have been trained to benefit from the NIRSAL Agric loan in the state.

There were trained by Engr Elias Mbam Foundation in partnership with Gogetit Initiatives LTD, a consulting firm working with NIRSAL.

The workshop which held at the Elymay Centre, Mile 50 Abakaliki Wednesday had in attendance the farmers, NIRSAL representatives and consultants from Gogetit.

Addressing the would be beneficiaries, the Chairman of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr. Elias Mbam who helped attract this loan facility expressed his delight that about 100 farmers would be receiving loans running into millions of Naira per beneficiary to help boost their farms and agro – businesses.

Engr Mbam said that his organization, the Elias Mbam Foundation had paid for the full cost of the training and the development of individual business plans for all the beneficiaries.

He expressed his optimism that the money would help the farmers grow their farms, boost yield, increase production, help in addressing food insecurity in the nation, and better their lots.

According to him, he believes in teaching people how to fish and this initiative will in no doubt boost the morale of the beneficiaries to use the knowledge gained from the workshop to make better use of the loans.

“The training would also help them learn how to apply for other loan facilities from NIRSAL instead of depending on commercial banks”. He said .
