Dr. Gideon Osi (GOC) a Nigerian Entrepreneur on Saturday 7th October 2023 dole Hundred Million Naria (#100m) for a full Educational Scholarship to 104 students in the country.
The scholarship award ceremony took place in Ishiagu Ivo local government area of Ebonyi state.
Among the beneficiaries of the 2023 scholarship award are four Catholic church seminarians studying to become a priest.
Others are indigent students from Abia state, Niger, Bayelsa, and other northern state of the and his home state Ebonyi.
The Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru represented by the secretary to the state government prof Grace Umezurike commended Dr. Osi for investing in education.
“I want to thank you for giving back to the society.
“You are raising an army for Nigeria as a nation and the state and the world in general.
“What you are doing today remembering your past is the best way to give back to society.
And to the students, do not take this privilege for granted. Make out the best for yourself”. She said.
Correspondent reports that the Hundred Million Naria disbursed to the beneficiaries according to Dr. Osi were part of friend’s donation during the burial of his mother.

Gideon Osi an Ishiagu born Ebonyi state Philanthropist, chairman of GOSIMA GROUP and founder of Gideon and Joy Life and Leadership Foundation in his remarks explained that he started the scholarship in years past intending to reduce poverty as knowledge is power.
He said in the secondary school category, 511 students wrote the exam 52 passed, 18 got admission by merit at FGC Okposi, Ohaozara local government others are in different schools in the state including King David Gifted Academy and Federal College of Agriculture model school Ishiagu.
To the students, GOC said, “You came from different families but now you found yourself in Gideon Foundation you must carry yourself with dignity.
Don’t be addicted to social media be addicted to your studies. If you do not perform well you will be replaced we are not joking.”
He described education as a bedrock of development which informed his decision to invest in Education as a way to develop society and reduce poverty adding that he was a product of scholarship.
“ I am a product of scholarship and I have been giving scholarships to students and undergraduates. I feel one of the ways to contribute best to society is educational empowerment.
“Education to every community, every society, every country is like what oxygen is to the human body. When you educate the people, you are helping to reduce poverty, you are helping to reduce insecurity. This scholarship is our way of giving to the society.
“It is in the interest of all to invest in others. If we want safety, if we want genuine peace, we must invest in people.
“Whatever anybody is doing, always take a path that will pay you, not just a path that you can actually throw away. Take that path that you know means so much to you and invest in other people’s children and not just your own children because a time will come in the future when your children are just not enough for you and you will need others to be there when your children are not there for you.
“It is useless being wealthy if you can’t make an impact in your community. We believe that this scholarship is the journey God has designed for us.
“We believe that children of the poor, indigent, and vulnerable also deserve quality education. we are here to invest in their future because investment in them is an investment in our collective future.
“The beneficiaries of this scholarship are all on merits. Exams were set; they wrote the first exam and they passed and we took them to the national exams and they also passed. So, they are all on merit.
“We have a total of 104 beneficiaries that are awarding this scholarship today for this year. In the secondary school category, we have those at federal government colleges and those at other secondary schools of high standard in the state
“We have university categories that will add to the existing numbers in the universities. This year alone, we will be graduating about 17 from the previous ongoing scholarships. We do this every year.
“But we decided to host this event to encourage others and also appreciate these children for making us proud in the past exams.
“So, we have a total of 62 in the secondary category and 38 in the university. I can assure you, in 20 years, we will be proud of these children”.
On his part, former senator representing Ebonyi south, Sen. Michael Amah Nnachi who was the chairman of the event said one unique thing is that GOC did not stop at Ivo local government, in Ebonyi south, in Ebonyi state but beyond Igbo land as people from niger state, from Bayelsa state and other northern states also benefited. “We will continue to pray for him and pray for the students. The only way to create a great nation, a great town is by education now that this opportunity is given, work with it don’t joke with it. If you are a beneficiary know that you have been positioned for God to be looking at you and if you work hard now, at a higher level nobody will tell you that there is no job there is a job when you have done well.
Rector Bayelsa State Poly. Dr. Wisdom Clinton Soreh said, “No better investment than investing in human capital. He commended Gideon for going beyond ishiagu for the scholarship.
A guardian, Mr Monday George said he joined to coordinate the scholarship program so that no student is left behind.
He commended GOC for bringing the children that will transform their lives and change their family status when they grew up and such will reduce poverty in the society.
Mr. George urged the students to study hard as education is the foundation of life and they should maintain honesty, and tolerance and follow steps that will make GOC to be proud of them.
The beneficiaries Oko Tochi Prudence from the tertiary institution, and Ndubisi Lucy Ogochukwu of Federal College of Agriculture model secondary school Ishiagu and Eke Victor federal government college Okposi thanked Dr. Osi
Eke who said he would like to be a medical doctor when they grow up assured Dr. GOC that he will pay him back by studying hard to be the best among the bests in the school.
