Govt: Invest in private schools to enhance quality education – Mary Chinedu Ogah

Mary Chinedu Ogah, proprietress Blessed Martins International School Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has called on the government to invest in private schools to enhance the quality of education.

She said government intervention in any form will ameliorate the suffering of poor but intelligent pupils and students.

Mrs Ogah said several intelligent children drop out after their primary six examinations because their parents could not sponsor their secondary education.

She spoke in Abakaliki during the Blessed Martins 10 graduation ceremony.

She said the Chinedu Foundation was ready to partner with the government or private sector to change the narrative by sorting out the children for scholarship.

” If you look at the economy, it is not friendly. Things are rising by the day. A common man can’t afford three square meals per day, so in private schools, paying school fees is a problem; buying it has not been easy for parents, and renewing children’s uniforms is a problem.
So we need the government to come and assist us, to invest in private schools.

“Some children are not orphans but their parents are too poor to send them to school so most times if they manage to go to primary school after writing their primary school certificate they will stop we have such students on scholarship here courtesy of Hon. Chinedu Ogah, and today, these children can debate with any school in this world, so I am pleading with the government philanthropist to go to the rural areas and fish such children out.

“They can partner with the Chinedu Ogah Foundation. Let them sort this child out and help them because they are the future leaders, she said.

The government should also help us put things together. We have power problems. We use generators, we buy diesel it is not easy, no good road. If the government can come to our aid, we will do better.

Pastor Ijomah Maurice, in his remarks, commended parents for their support of the development of the school and assured that the school management would continue to give out the best knowledge to the students.
