History was made Sunday 18th February 2024, at the Reformed Presbyterian church of Nigeria Abakaliki, Ebonyi State as the church officially commission the authority of the church cathedral in Abakaliki after about 12 years.
The event which took place at the church premises opposite Ezekuna hall, off Nsugbe street, Abakaliki , Ebonyi State started with a three revival program for God to dwell in the hearts of the church members.
Ebonyi state governor Francis Nwifuru represented by the deputy Patricia Onyemachi Obila were among the dignitaries that honored the event.
Rt. Rev. Chima Uduma the Moderator General of the Reformed Presbyterian church of Nigeria, at event said they return all the glory for making the project a reality.
Speaking on national issues, Rev Chima said God is the only solution to Nigeria problem, that is hardship and insecurity.
According to him, no expert has solution to our problem. we should to go back to God in prayer and in repentance that is the only solution to Nigeria problem.
“We all are affected by the condition of the country, and it’s time we go back to God. This is because no expert or economist has answer to Nigeria’s problem.
“As a nation, we have gotten it wrong. We must tell our selves the truth, both the political class and the masses have gotten it wrong, and we need to go back to God in prayer and repentance.
On the persistent security challenges, Rev Uduma said the church should condemn the evil act noting that some of the hoodlums belongs to one denomination or the other therefore church should preach against it.
“The insecurity and other problems affecting the people, is happening in the society where the church is found. This kidnappers belong to the families, and most of them do go to church also. There is a need for the church to rise up and condemn what is condemnable.
“Those of us who are in the church, needs to shun materialism, because that’s the major issue, people wants to make wealth quick, and therefore go into problems. People should be contented with what they have, with that, everything will be well in Nigeria” .
In his homely tagged ” The Ark is Ready and God is Here” , Rev Cornelius Eke the parish moderator noted that.the church will forever serve as a symbol of redemption, equity and justice to the people, that it shows that God is at work among his people and urged the church to be ready that the ark is ready and they should live a Christian life to reflect the sanity which the ark represents.
“Children of God should avoid sin because sin is a reproach, adding, the church should avoid the life of a hypocrisy , Rev Eke said.
Rev. Odicha Ude the chairman planning committee, of the event told Journalists that the building project which commenced in 2012 took the sum of one hundred and seven million naira was used to build the church.
He commended the members who provided the fund through self tasking and other donors.
On his part, the former Commissioner for works and transport in the state, Engr. Paul Okorie, and the chairman building committee, urged government to raise to the needs of the people.

Okorie said words were not enough to thank God for giving them the grace to finish the building project despite the challenges.
