To ensure improved healthcare delivery, Rt Hon. Chinedu Ogah Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has donated drugs to health centers in his constituency.
He made the presentation of the drugs, to heads of the health care centers in Ezza South and Ikwo on Saturday,
AMURT Hospital Item Amegu, AMURT Okpitumo, health center Nsukara, and General Ikwo were among the benefiting hospitals.
Hon Ogah who is the chairman House Committee on Reformatory Institutions explained that the drugs valued at millions of naira were procured through National primary healthcare to boost the health of his Constituents.
He urged the healthcare providers to ensure that the drugs were dispensed free of charge to prospective beneficiaries.
“In complementing the efforts of Governor Francis Nwifuru ‘s Charter of needs and that Mr President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I procure these drugs through National primary healthcare. These drugs should be administered free of charge to anyone in need of them in your various health centers.
“So, those of you that are in charge in the various health centers in my constituency should ensure that the health of the people is improved through these drugs all at no cost. This is step two we had done step one at the local government level.
” I hand over these drugs to you people to complement the efforts and make sure our people have access to free and quality health care services”, Ogah noted.
Responding on behalf of the health workers, the Medical Director of Ikwo General Hospital Dr. Nwali James thanked the Lawmaker for the kind gestures and assured them the drugs would be administered to patients as directed at no cost.
” The Right honorable representing Ikwo /Ezza South Federal Constituency, your magnanimity has transcended the whole Ebonyi State. This act I can describe as an act of synergy and complementation. Synergy and complementation because it synergies the efforts of our dear Governor His Excellency Francis Nwifuru in meeting the needs of the people in the state.
” You know before now the problem in health care centers here is lack of drugs. If you go to our health centers you will not find even paracetamol but in this administration, his Excellency the Governor has decided to take as his primary objective to ensure that all the health care centers in the state are functional. And because of that he has decided to award contracts for renovating and procurement of equipment to all the general hospitals in the state.
“Now our representative in the federal House of Representatives has complemented the governor’s efforts. On behalf of heads of health centers I assure you that since you have provided these drugs, we are going to make sure that they are given to the patients at no cost. These will motivate us to rededicate ourselves to the services of our people.
“Because if he will be thinking of our welfare from Abuja, it also means that we will think about our people more and put in all efforts to ensure the health of all. We pray the Lord bless you more”, he prayed.
Other benefitting heads of Health institutions present during the distribution were Dr. Omogo John Edeh the Medical Director of AMURT and Nweke Jacinta the officer in charge of the Nsokkara Health Center in Ezza South local government area of the state.
