Humanitarian services; Community Honors Ebonyi Deputy Governor with an award of Excellence

Dr. Kelechi Igwe the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State has reiterated his determination to keep building bridges of unity and supporting causes that impact positively on the socio-economic lives of the people of the Ikwo local government area of the state.

He spoke when he received an Excellence and Integrity in Service Award, conferred on him by the people of Enyimchukwu Village in recognition of his humanitarian efforts and contributions to the development of the Village and Ebonyi State in general.

The event took place on 31st, December 2022 during the Enyimchukwu Federated Development Union Annual Day Celebration at Enyimchukwu Playground, Ndufu Alike in Ikwo Local Government Area.

Represented by the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo the deputy governor thanked the people of Enyimchukwu for the special recognition.

Dr. Igwe said though, he has a few months to stay as Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, he must keep alive all the legacies that earned him the award while out of office.

In their speeches, Chief Okeagu Ogadah, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Disaster Management, Elder Stephen Orogwu, and a Business Mogul, Elder Silas Orawo while congratulating the Deputy Governor on the well-deserved award, commended the people of Enyimchukwu for recognizing the modest efforts and contributions of their son, Dr. Kelechi Igwe in advancing the frontiers of development and good governance.

The President, of Enyimchukwu Federated Development Union, Mr. Sunday Oreke said the award was to appreciate the Deputy Governor for salvaging the Village through peace-building, human empowerment, and infrastructural transformation, especially the construction of a first-ever concrete road in the area and assured of their support to Ebonyi State Government.

The event featured the launching of the Skills Acquisition Programme for the Youths of the area, and the presentation of cash prizes to the winners of the football competition, organized as part of activities to mark the Day.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo has announced the construction of Ofie Bridge Ojon at Enyibichiri Alike, Ikwo.

Mr. Nwankwo who announced this during an assessment of the Bridge said his administration was poised to address the infrastructural needs of the Ikwo people.
