Considering security as an important thing to his people, Emmanuel Ajah chairman Ivo local government area of Ebonyi State has built a DPOs quarter in the Ivo police division Ishiagu.
The quarter is for easy policing and the people to have access to the DPO, especially in times of emergency.
The Chairman said that peace has returned to the council which recorded cases of kidnapping, killings, and raping of women by suspected kidnappers in the area.
He spoke to journalists at Ivo police division, Ishiagu in the local government on Saturday while handing the DPOs quarters he built for the Divisional Police Officer in the area to the police.
Ajah said through his security measures including the establishment of about four military checkpoints in the area and the deployment of 25 special mobile policemen who have been patrolling the local government the area was calm.
He explained that he built the DPO quarters for prompt response to security issues by the DPO, adding that the DPO was living very far from the area which made him accessible before.
“In Ivo local government, we don’t DPO’s quarter. Where the DPO is staying is very far from the Ivo police division. You will come to the division and wait for more than three, or four hours before he will get to the division and attend to your issue. So, if he is within the division, he will be attending to cases promptly. This is why I built the house for the DPO to make him accessible.
“We don’t have security issues anymore in the local government. For four or five months now, everywhere has been calm. No more killings, kidnappings, or raping by herdsmen because many of them have been arrested and we have about three military checkpoints courtesy of me though we had one military checkpoint before.
“We have over 25 mobile policemen who are also on the road to ensure adequate security. There is no more crisis in Ivo again. No more killings, kidnapping, raping by herdsmen who have been raping people inside farms”, he stated.
Ajah who had built a High court and Magistrate court in the local government, said he built the courts for quick dispensation of justice and save the people of the area the stress they were passing through while going to another local government when they had cases in court.
