Following the people’s quest to have a memorable event targeted at celebrating one another for being alive and together till the end of the year, the case of members,
Group, Izzi Heroes Association Friday 23rd December 2022 specially held their end-of-the-year meeting in Abakaliki Ebonyi State.
The association was formed to bring the members of various family units of Izzi-speaking people across the three council areas of the clan in Ebonyi State together where they could discuss their affairs in one voice and assist one another when necessary.
The event started with a church service.
In a holy mass that accompanied the end-of-the-year party, the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Mulumba Catholic Church, Azuiyiokwu, Rev Fr Uchenna Nwankwo commended the people for incorporating God into the activity meant to appreciate one another for being united since the inception of the union.
He applauded them for choosing a unique name capable of influencing all members positively and also advised the people to always consider God first in all their dealings as that would provide them with the grace to attain their various objectives.
The National President of the union, Hon Egbedike Michael Chukwuma disclosed that the essence of its formation was also to empower one another and attract government attention towards the members in the areas of engagement, amenities, and otherwise.
“As a union, we won’t rely solely on the government for everything rather we have mapped plans on how we will send some of us overseas officially in search of greener pastures and once those are established, they will equally empower others.
“I believe that with such a chain of establishment our association will excel, so in a nutshell, our primary objective is to empower one another,” he said.
The National Secretary, Comrade Nwofoke Paul Chibuzor said that its formation was aimed at uniting all the people across the three Local government areas of the Izzi clan which include Abakaliki, Ebonyi, and Izzi adding that the forum is open for everyone provided the interested person is an Izzi man who has come of age.
“Ordinarily there are many people who would not have known one another before now but with this non-political organization, a lot of persons have known themselves and become more intimated than before and on this note, I’m advising everyone to be law-abiding both in the union and outside so that the reason which the association was formed will not be jeopardized,” he said.
The union chairman, of the Abakaliki branch, Mr. Ogbajigwe Nwabueze Nwopho said that the association is the umbrella body comprising all the family units in the Izzi clan irrespective of party differences with the sole aim of helping one another.
“For some years now, we have been carrying each other along without considering the political party that one belongs and that is why we are emphasizing much on unity to enable us to achieve our set goals,” he said.
The Senatorial candidate of Ebonyi North District under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon (Barr) Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi charged everyone to shun kindred dichotomy to enable the union to progress smoothly.
“When it comes to kindred dichotomy, everyone is guilty of it and that is why I’m praying that God should pay each person by his deed since He doesn’t take bribes, so I’m appealing that we should keep our differences apart.
” Let us forget the areas in which we feel that we did not do well and forge ahead with our plans because I believe that with your support I will be the Senator representing you from next year,” he said.
He further advised the union members to support APC at all levels in the sense that it is the only party that had recognized the Izzi people by giving them chances for both gubernatorial and the senate.
“When I was the party chairman, I empowered so many youths, assisted many indigent ones and If I emerge as the senator, I will double my effort” he assured.
Another critical stakeholder in the Izzi clan, Chief Augustine Edeze said that the meeting was the gathering of many persons who had been oppressed for one reason or another before they came together under the Izzi Heroes Association and as result advised that the union should not involve themselves in the the the the partisan politics since it cuts across all the parties.
” The essence of the meeting is to enable us to know one another, this is why I’m advising that we need to be transparent in all our dealings and avoid partisan politics” he advised.
The gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State under New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and former Chairman of Ebonyi LGA, Prophet (Dr) Adol Awam urged the people to work towards his victory, come to the 2023 general election adding that the economic development of the state is his priority.
“What is needed in the state is peace and progress so that we can put hopes together to know what the future holds for the society because my aim of joining the guber race is for the massive development,” he said.
