Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Name Game: How ‘Brooklyn’ Almost Became ‘Blue Ivy

In a recent interview with “CBS Mornings,” Jay-Z unveiled a surprising twist in the name game for their daughter, revealing that before settling on Blue Ivy Carter, they were originally drawn to the name “Brooklyn” as a nod to Jay-Z’s cherished hometown.

He recounted how during the early stages, as they peered at the tiny sonograms, the nickname “Blueberry” playfully emerged and stuck throughout the pregnancy. “For nine months we’re like, ‘Look at little Blueberry,'” he shared.

Yet, when the time came to decide on a final name, the transition to “Blue” felt entirely natural for the couple, now parents to 11-year-old Blue Ivy, alongside twins Rumi and Sir Carter, aged 6.

This revelation adds a new layer to the captivating history of the Carter family, including Blue Ivy’s recent debut on stage during Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour this year. Witnessing his daughter confidently perform alongside her mother was a moment of immense pride for Jay-Z, marking a remarkable milestone in their family’s journey.
