Marvel Studios has been rained with honor, thanks to two of its superheroes, Eternals‘Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) and Hawkeye ‘s Echo (Alaqua Cox) super powered characters with disabilities.
Chloe Zhao’s Eternals and Disney series Hawkeye have each entered the Seal of Authentic Representation from the Ruderman Family Foundation, which promotes the full addition of people with disabilities in society. The Seal recognizes pictures and TV shows that point actors with disabilities in places with at least five lines of dialogue.
“Makkari is full of heart and wisdom. She’s strong, attractive, mysterious and mischievous. We’re veritably lucky to have plant Lauren Ridloff, who’s our real- life Makkari!” Zhao said in a statement. “She has brought this character to life with love and conviction and has tutored us so much in the process.”
Ridloff and Cox are both deaf, and the ultimate also is an amputee who uses a prosthetic leg.
