Mayorkun Threatens Legal Action Against Influencer Over Ritual Allegations
Afrobeats sensation Mayowa Adewale, professionally known as Mayorkun, has issued a stern warning to social media influencer Precious Kingsley, also known as Nicki Dabarbie, demanding an apology and threatening legal action for alleging involvement in occult rituals.
The controversy erupted when Dabarbie accused Mayorkun and fellow artist Abbey Elias, known as Skiibii, of attempting to use her for ‘money ritual’. In a series of Instagram posts, Dabarbie shared videos purportedly showing herself, Skiibii, and others at Skiibii’s residence, along with claims of being targeted for a ritual.
Responding to the allegations, Mayorkun’s legal representatives, Monarchs and Stroud, issued a letter demanding immediate retraction of the defamatory statements and a public apology within 24 hours. The letter also stipulated a payment of N1 billion in damages for emotional trauma and loss of endorsements.
Mayorkun’s manager dismissed the allegations as baseless, vowing swift legal action to address the matter. Similarly, Skiibii refuted the claims on his Instagram page, affirming that the incident had been reported to the Nigerian Police Force for investigation.
The unfolding saga underscores the impact of false accusations on public figures and highlights the recourse to legal measures to protect reputations in the face of unfounded claims. As the situation develops, both Mayorkun and Skiibii are adamant about seeking justice and clearing their names from the damaging allegations.
