Azeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley in the music and social industry returned to the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos on Friday, on the terms of new and discriminating evidence against.
Naira Marley has been in and out the court room with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the body presented more evidence against the music star at the court case following his ongoing trial on 11-count charge on credit card fraud.
At the resumed hearing, Justice Nicholas Oweibo dismissed his objection to the forensic evidence earlier presented, Dein Whyte, an EFCC operative and prosecuting witness had all presentations.
At the sitting on June 9, 2022, the defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo objected to the witness’s opinion on the forensic evidence linking the artiste.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) argued that only the court could make pronouncements on the defendant’s culpability, not an investigator.
Dismissing the objection, Justice Oweibo said an investigator must be able to link the defendant to the commission of the crime.
More information will be brought to you while the trial still stands, at this point it remains uncertain if the artiste lose of win against the EFCC.
