Nestlé Nigeria Invites Journalists to Participate in 2024 Media Awards, Promoting Excellence in Storytelling
Nestlé Nigeria has officially opened entries for the 2024 Media Awards, an initiative aimed at recognizing outstanding contributions from Nigerian journalists across print, broadcast, and digital media. Now in its fourth edition, the prestigious awards celebrate journalistic integrity, professionalism, and storytelling that highlights the crucial conversations shaping the food and beverage industry in Nigeria.
The awards focus on a variety of thematic areas, encouraging journalists to explore impactful issues that resonate with the Nigerian public and align with Nestlé’s corporate values. Categories for entry include Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions, Environmental Sustainability, Youth and Women Empowerment, Agriculture, Finance, and the Best Photojournalist Award.
A Platform for Impactful Journalism
Victoria Uwadoka, Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability at Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the importance of the awards, stating, “The Nestlé Media Awards are not merely a celebration of journalistic excellence, but a force for positive change. Categories and Eligibility
The awards are open to all Nigerian journalists working in print, broadcast, and digital platforms. Stories can be submitted individually or as a team, with each participant limited to one entry per category. All submissions must relate to the activities of Nestlé Nigeria PLC or Nestlé Global, covering topics from November 10, 2023, to November 8, 2024. Journalists can enter stories that align with the categories mentioned earlier, which include essential areas such as nutrition, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and agriculture.
For photojournalists, submissions will be judged on a series of photographs covering a single subject, highlighting the impact of visual storytelling in bringing issues to life. All submissions must include a 100-word profile of the individual or organization and a vivid description of the entry.
Judging Criteria
A panel of seasoned industry experts will judge the entries based on several key factors, including:
- Accuracy and Balance: How well the story presents a factual, balanced narrative backed by thorough research.
- Depth and Insight: The level of insightfulness, originality, and thoroughness in covering the subject.
