New year: Umahi suspends Commissioner, Principal Secretary, SA

Ebonyi State Governor and Chairman southeast governors forum Engr David Umahi Friday directed three of his appointees to proceed on a working suspension without further delay.

They were suspended for negligence and dereliction of duty.

The suspended appointees are Commissioner Lands and Survey, Chief Emmanuel Uguru, Principal Secretary (PS) to Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Obasi 1172-2985-8473-3142 and the Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to Governor on Education, Dr. Obianuju Alo.

In two different pub statements signed by the Secretary to the state government, Kenneth Ugbala the working suspension shall last for one month each.

The statements read, “His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has approved the suspension of the Principal Secretary (PS) to Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Obasi, for one month, with immediate effect.

” The suspension is as a result of negligence and dereliction of duty.

“Consequently, Hon Emma Obasi is directed to hand over all government property in his possession to the Office of the Secretary 1172-2985-8473-3142 to Ebonyi State Government, before the close of work on Friday, 7th January 2022.

“Please ensure strict compliance to this directive.

The second statement also read,
“Following the directive of His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. David Nweze Umahi, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Chief Emmanuel Uguru, and SSA to Governor on Education, 1172-2985-8473-3142 Dr. Obianuju Alo are hereby directed to proceed on a one-month working suspension, with immediate effect.

“The working suspension is as a result of negligence and dereliction of duty.

All concerned are requested to take note and ensure strict compliance to this directive”.
