Nigeria Introduces E-Visa System for Faster Travel Approvals
In a move aimed at boosting tourism and business travel, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior recently announced the full automation of the country’s short-stay visa approval process.
Nigeria Immigration Service confirmed that the new system will reduce processing time from weeks to just 24-48 hours.
Travelers will now be able to apply online, and successful applicants will receive e-visas via email—eliminating the need for physical stickers or in-person collection.
This initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s economic strategy to attract foreign investment and improve Nigeria’s ease of doing business.

Business professionals, tourists, and expatriates will no longer have to endure long wait times or bureaucratic hurdles. Instead, they can enjoy a seamless application process, much like in countries such as Kenya and South Africa.
