The Nigerian House of Representatives has urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to enforce a nationwide ban on pornographic websites, citing concerns about their impact on moral values and social behavior. Lawmakers are pressing for strict sanctions on Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that fail to comply with the proposed restrictions.
Hon. Dalhatu Shehu Tafoki of the Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency, Katsina State, stated that Nigeria, as a religious and culturally conservative nation, does not condone nudity and obscenity across its major faiths.
Reasons for the Proposed Ban:
- The potential to create deception in marriages, leading to strained family relationships.
- The promotion of adultery, prostitution, and unrealistic expectations that may encourage dangerous promiscuous behavior.
