Hon Francis Nwifuru has been sworn in as the 4th democratically elected Governor of Ebonyi State.
The first female deputy governor of the state Princess Patricia Obila was also sworn in.
Nwifuru was sworn in as the new governor of the state by the Chief Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene at the Abakaliki Township stadium.
Nwifuru was the former speaker of the Ebonyi State Assembly.
In his inaugural speech, Hon. Nwifuru said he will serve the people based on their charter of needs.
Adding that he will be engaging the masses in town hall meetings.
According to him, his administration will collaborate with people who have the interest of the state at heart for the development of the Ebonyi State.
He urged his opponents who went to court to challenge his election to come and join hands with him to build the state.
He called on them to withdraw their suits from the court.
Nwifuru noted that his government will be fair and just to all as his emergence came from God.
He thanked the former governor, David Umahi, and all who in one way or another helped him to become the governor.
“The journey to my emergence was not easy. I am very prepared for governance with the experience I have gathered.
“We are available at all times to discuss with anybody who wants to help to develop this state. We will serve Ebonyi with the fear of God and do those things he wants us to do.
“I invite my brothers who went to court to challenge my election to join me in building the state. I plead with them to withdraw their petition as that will make us to me more focused.
“Our victory is a collective one. History has given us a greater opportunity to achieve great things. The success of our celebration is because of God Almighty.
“I shall run Ebonyi State on the principle of the charter of needs. I shall hold a town hall meeting with the people of the state”.
