Polls: ikwo council boss commends Peaceful conduct

Barr Sunday Nwankwo Chairman of Ikwo LGA, has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the area.

Speaking with a journalist shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit 009 Ndioduma Echalike playground, Barr Nwankwo commended the peaceful conduct and expressed optimism that his party, the All Progressives Congress APC, will win the polls.

He urged the people to replicate the turnout on the 11th of March when the next Governor of the state will be elected.

Earlier, the coordinator, of Ikwo East Development Center, Mr. Ekuma Emmanuel at Ebianji Noyo polling unit affirmed that the conduct has been hitch-free and peaceful, though decried the low turnout which he attributed to the constant threat by the unknown gunmen in the area.

“You can see it for yourself, there’s orderliness in the unit. The INEC ad-hoc staff are doing their best to keep to the standard.”

At the Ugbodo Echalike polling unit, the APC state youth leader, Comrade Aloh Ogbonnaya expressed satisfaction with the peaceful nature of the conduct and commended his people for turning out en mass to exercise their franchise.

Some of the electorates who spoke included, the CEO of Delamb Entertainment, Mr. Onyebuchi Oreke, Dr. Aaron Nwedu, Hon. Nkweke Njoku Pascal, Mr. Matthew Ojon, Prince Ikechukwu Nwakpu, and Chukwu Virginia among others alluded to the peaceful and credible conduct of the election.

They also added that the election is one of the freest, fair, and most credible elections conducted so far. They however expressed concern over the late arrival of materials in some polling units and the lack of adequate no knowledge of the operation of the BVAS by some INEC ad-hoc staff and called for improvement in subsequent polls.
