President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for Beijing, China, on Thursday, August 29, for a significant official visit. The trip will include a brief layover in the United Arab Emirates, as announced by presidential aide Chief Ajuri Ngelale.
In China, President Tinubu will meet with President Xi Jinping and engage with Chinese business leaders during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. This high-profile visit aims to bolster Nigeria’s bilateral relations with China and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Accompanied by senior government officials, Tinubu’s visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with major global players. The trip follows a recent report by SaharaReporters detailing Tinubu’s plans for the China visit, aligning with his ongoing international engagement strategy.
Prior to this, President Tinubu returned to Abuja from Paris on August 23, 2024, after a brief work stay in France. His arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was noted at approximately 2:25 am. On the same day, he administered the oath of office to Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, inaugurating her as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria, pending Senate confirmation. The ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja at around 11:40 am.
