Edo Arena: A New Chapter in Benin City’s Entertainment Scene
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has announced that the upcoming 6,000-capacity Edo Arena in Benin City will be named “Rema’s Dome” in honor of the global Afrobeats sensation, Rema. This revelation was made during the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, where Rema, born Divine Ikubor, laid the first block alongside the governor.
Rema, who was in his hometown for a highly anticipated concert, joined Governor Obaseki at the former Garrick Memorial School Ground on Ekenhuan Road, the site for the arena. The governor emphasized that the arena, once completed, will serve as a hub for concerts, conferences, and large gatherings, boosting tourism and creating jobs for Edo youths.
Rema has been a proud ambassador for Edo State, often celebrating the legacy of the ancient Benin Empire in his music, including his latest hit, “Benin Boys,” which features fellow Edo-born star, Shallipopi.
