
Command Reaches 97.2% of N1.9bn Revenue Goal and Makes Major Contraband Seizures
The Seme Customs Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has demonstrated exceptional performance in revenue collection and anti-smuggling operations for 2023. As of September 8, 2023, the Command has collected N1,904,459,390.77, achieving 97.2% of its N1,960,000,000 target.
The Command’s revenue collection surged by 51.98%, compared to N885,543,098.11 in 2022.
The remarkable increase is credited to the strategic efforts of the Command’s leadership and strong collaboration with stakeholders, driving compliance with revenue generation initiatives. Among the notable seizures, the Command intercepted fake six million US dollars, equating to N2.7 billion, along with other contrabands.
Additional significant seizures included 16 trailer loads of foreign parboiled rice, 415,050 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and various general merchandise, Officers and personnel involved in these successful operations received commendations from the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
