The wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Rachael Umahi, has called on political leaders to work with an open mind and ensure that they end well in their administration.
Mrs. Umahi said on her part she will leave office without any scandal after serving the state with her husband for eight years.
Mrs. Umahi stated this while opening her new ultra-modern office at the centenary city, a new government house, Abakaliki.
She explained she doesn’t have any pending Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) visitation and that her name never appeared on the pages of newspapers because of her transparent life. And urged leaders to avoid scandalous life.
She noted that she will be leaving her office at the expiration of her tenure as more gracious, happier, more refined, more experienced, and more fulfilled.
According to her, she will continue to maintain her good relationship with people both now in office and after office.
“Nobody checks the time more than the way I do and so, I am leaving the office more gracious, more happy, more refined, more experience, more fulfilled. Have you ever seen my name on the pages of newspapers for scandal? I don’t have pending EFCC visitation. If you want to rest, rest well. The world is enough for everybody but it is never enough for everybody with greed”, she stated.
The Governor’s wife identified patience, perseverance, and listening ear as key to a successful marriage and other achievements in life.
“A lot of people are wondering, it’s barely a year and some months to the end of this administration, why the noise. Let me remind you, the end of a matter is better than the beginning. The perfection of what is started by God almighty is the end and it is always the best.
“I want to teach my women patience, perseverance, God’s timing. If you want to end well in any relationship especially marriage, have a listening ear to that person God sent to you. It is God who sends a man to a woman. Do not judge the book by the cover; grumbling murmuring in a matter that you are not sure of can lead you to hellfire.
“Those who are murmuring time is up, time is up, do you know, in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there are two tenures; four years. The people will now the time to review if they want you again. if they do, you will come for another four years. So, immediately you are buying the form, you already know the expiring date of your first tenure”, she stated.
Mrs. Umahi called on women to make the new ultra-modern office very busy and vibrant by bringing up programs that will impact them positively, adding that she will continue to champion the well-being of women, the vulnerable, and less privileged in society.
In her remarks, the state Chairman of ALGON, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iyioku commended Mrs. Umahi for representing women well in the government of the state.
She commended her for giving women 40 percent during the 2015 general elections.
“During the 2015 campaign, Ebonyi women asked for 35% but mummy, you gave us 40%. This is the first time in the history of Ebonyi that more women are elected as local government Chairmen. This is the first time in the history of Ebonyi state that a woman is now the ALGON Chairman. This is the first time in the history of Ebonyi state that three women are elected to the state House of Assembly. This is the first time in the history of Ebonyi state that 12 women are appointed as members of the state exco”, she said.
Commissioner for women affairs and social development Princess Chinwe Okah on her part urged women organizations to continue to support Mrs. Umahi.
She prayed that God will grant them ‘Umahi’ the grace to win his presidential ambition.
